Church Members Make a Splash in Bartow

July 15, 2011

AN ARMY OF WORKERS ARE HELPING LOCAL RESIDENTS ONE JOB AT A TIME THIS WEEK. SPLASH BARTOW KICKED OFF MONDAY WITH THE HELP OF MORE THAN 400 LOCAL STUDENTS, 350 ADULT VOLUNTEERS AND 40 CHURCHES TAKING ON PROJECTS TO HELP THE COMMUNITY.

THE REV. CHRIS BLACKWELL FROM THE CHURCH AT LIBERTY SQUARE SAYS THAT WHILE MANY LEAVE THE AREA FOR MISSION TRIPS TO HELP OTHERS, SPLASH BARTOW’S MISSION TRIP IS TO HELP BARTOW COUNTY. PARTICIPANTS ARE REQUIRED TO SLEEP AT LOCAL CHURCHES FOR THE MISSION TRIP EXPERIENCE. THEY WORK TO SHARE THEIR FAITH AS THEY TAKE ON JOBS RANGING FROM YARD WORK TO LIGHT CONSTRUCTION. BLACKWELL SAYS THE STUDENTS ALSO MAKE MAJOR REPAIRS WHERE NEEDED.

THE WEEK OF COMMUNITY SERVICE BEGAN MONDAY AND ENDS ON FRIDAY.
